Mary Jane Teall Theater at Century II

Located in the heart of downtown Wichita near the banks of the Arkansas River, the Mary Jane Teall Theater is an essential part of the city’s cultural landscape. Dedicated in 1989, the venue is named in honor of Mary Jane Teall, the influential founder of the Wichita Community Theatre. It is housed within the architecturally distinct, circular Century II Performing Arts & Convention Center, a landmark listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The theater is celebrated for its intimate atmosphere, featuring approximately 650 seats in a continental arrangement that ensures a personal connection between the audience and the stage. While it frequently hosts musicals, concerts, and film festival screenings, it has become a popular destination for stand-up comedy fans seeking a "close-up" experience. Notable comedians such as Ian Bagg, Chad Prather, and Derrick Stroup have performed in this room, drawn by its specialized acoustic design and warm, professional setting.
