Comedy Grind

Located on iconic Melrose Avenue, The Lab is the intimate, experimental sister space to the legendary Hollywood Improv. While the main Hollywood location has been a comedy cornerstone since 1974, The Lab offers a modern, high-energy environment designed for alternative sets and up-close performances. Situated in the heart of Hollywood, this secondary stage provides a premier destination for fans seeking an authentic, stripped-back glimpse into the city’s creative pulse. The Lab is renowned for its diverse programming, including stand-up showcases, experimental workshops, and live podcasts. It serves as a playground for both rising stars and comedy legends testing new material in a personal setting. The Hollywood Improv has historically hosted icons like Richard Pryor and Robin Williams, while The Lab continues this legacy with sets from modern greats like Bill Burr and Sarah Silverman. It remains an essential stop for seeing world-class talent in an atmospheric, small-room setting.
