Located in the heart of Grand Rapids’ vibrant Eastown neighborhood, The Wealthy Theatre is a historic landmark that has served as a cultural anchor since 1911. Originally built as a vaudeville house called the Pastime Vaudette, the venue was beautifully restored in the late 1990s to preserve its classic architecture and elegant main auditorium. Today, it is operated by the Grand Rapids Community Media Center as a warm, intimate space where history meets modern performance, offering an inviting atmosphere for fans of live entertainment. The theatre hosts an eclectic lineup, including independent films, concerts, and a robust schedule of comedy. It is a premier destination for national stand-up acts and celebrated local troupes, with past performers including SNL alum Jon Lovitz and actor Jim O’Heir. Whether catching homegrown improv favorites like Pop Scholars or a touring headliner, the venue’s auditorium provides an engaging, up-close experience that makes every performance feel personal.
